For Our replica lotus 23 sports car, our design team created a supremely stiff steel monocoque chassis. Here is one of our latest customer chassis being fabricated in our shop..
The chassis is constructed from mild steel "Zinctec" sheet material in various gauges to suit required stiffness. All panels are then MIG or spot welded on our fabrication jigs to ensure accuracy for all bolt-on parts, forming a stressed and stiffened monocoque tub. The chassis is fully designed to accommodate all ancillaries including steering, suspension, radiator etc. NO additional paneling and only minimal additional bracketing is required to construct the Martyni 23. Here's an overview of the General Arrangement drawing. Note that all designs were produced using the latest CAD (computer aided design) to ensure quality and accuracy of assembly.

A substantial fabricated pedal assembly is incorporated for the hydraulic systems which comprises: Three remote hydraulic fluid reservoirs, one serving the front braking system, one the rear system, and one for the clutch actuation. They are bolted onto the chassis complete with hydraulic swivel fittings and high quality rubber hoses running to the master cylinders. Braking system comprises 2no. Girling master cylinders each of 5/8" bore, with balance bar compensation assembly for front/rear bias adjustment. Reconditioned wheel cylinders are fitted together with new brake shoes to the rear wheels. The braking system is complete with all necessary tube, flared end fittings, and quality flexible hoses. A single Girling hydraulic cylinder of 7/8" capacity is incorporated to actuate the hydraulic clutch of the (Alfa) engine. |
